Second Mondays is a multi-disciplinary open mic for Black people to share and enjoy incredible art. The stage welcomes comedy, poetry, singing, rapping, instrumentalists, and more!

Each year, Gold Beams partners with Black Joy Parade to bring you a special edition of the Second Mondays Open Mic. The winner gets to perform on the Black Joy Parade stage!

The first-place winner gets a performance slot on the Black Joy Parade stage to perform in front of 10,000+ people!

Open Mic:

The Second Mondays Open Mic is home to black artists of all disciplines. Whether your are a comedian, poet, musician, actors, dancer, singer, rapper, magician or what have you... this stage is for you!

FAQs:

  • The open mic list opens at 6 pm.

  • Artists can perform one piece.

  • Artists get up to 5 minutes on stage.

  • If you have instrumentals, be ready to airdrop them.

  • Be prepared to perform acapella if there are issues sending your instrumentals.

Our mission is to support black creatives making careers from their art and to produce events that bring black people joy.

It's what we at Gold Beams have been doing for six years.

Black Joy Parade is a hyper-positive non-profit based in Oakland, CA that celebrates the Black experience and community's contribution to history and culture with its signature parade and celebration, partnerships and events.
